The alpha channel and the RGB channel together have to 256 colors, this is very difficult! and you should aonly try to attmpt this if the picture already got not many colors!
-copy your alpha channel
-make new picture in Photoshop and select RGB instead of grey scale
-past your alpha
-then do a image>>mode>>index color and set as low posible>> 10
-copy
-go back to your original and delete the alpha channel then make a new alpha channel and past your indexed alpha into,.
-now comes the tricky part,. goto index color and set to 50(just to see if thepic will work in rcoedit) and then goto>> image>>mode>>rgb color
-now save your pic as 32bit bmp
try to load into rcoedit 114 if it loads go back to the point where you index the picture to 50 and try a higher index color,. 100
this step you can repeat untill you have the max color count reached,.
you can always try and set the alpha index color to 8
the mix of alpha channel and RGB channel colors is the color count the whole picture is,.. so don't expect to set alpha channel to 100 and RGB to 156,.. =256.
