MPC has both boost and gain/normalisation options too :P Options » Audio Switcher
I wouldn't use either for music however. Pretty much all popular music has dynamic range compression applied. Does help for classical if you can't take the dynamic range though.
Gain clips the audio; both of these probably only really work for video / voice tracks.
oh i don't know MPC can also boost sounds, lol, it annoys me when watching movies over my laptop and some of my siblings can't hear the sound because of external noises, lol

RE: Favourite Music Player
Assassinator Wrote:* Can't minimize to tray, well actually, you can, but only after searching for and downloading a plugin. Something like that should be built in.
* Uses quite a lot of memory (~100MB), maybe due to the built in Firefox like web browser. Doesn't matter too much for me because I have 4GB of RAM, but for a netbook with 500MB/1GB of RAM, it's going to annoy you.
Could be to do with the fact that Mozilla apps are designed to be cross platform. The Windows system tray, for example, is very much a Windows thing, perhaps not so much Linux/OSX. But then, arguably, file associations are probably also very OS specific, so why they choose that and not the systray support is a bit of a mystery.
I've never really known why Mozilla apps tend to take up lots of memory, but it could be because they build a lot of stuff into the application itself (again, probably for portability across platforms), whereas other apps may be just using native stuff that comes with the OS. Though it should mean that if you have both Firefox and Songbird open, they should really be sharing code (and not take up so much memory)...

Actually, it doesn't do file associations either, which annoyed me a bit at the start, because I had to manually associate everything to it.
I also dislike auto file association without warning for that matter.

NEVAAAAAAAA.
Anyway I just saw Songbird, and it almost as if they wanted to copy MediaMonkey.
But MediaMonkey is better so... why should I want to use Songbird?

Personal Preference.
Installed it on many computers without fail and never had a codec problem.
I have installed KLite before but I just end up going back to CCCP when I need to reinstall codecs.
So yeah, Personal Preference.

Probably. There must´ve been good reason for me to uninstall it.
But yeah... MPC x CCCP =
(is an official Multithread libavcodec out yet?)

That'll be ffmpeg-mt (you should have the option if you have a recent enough FFDShow, otherwise upgrade your codec pack). It's still labeled as "experimental" though, however, I think it's pretty stable and it's unlikely you'll run into any problems.
I just use coreavc.
