Do u have any idea how expensive it is to stick someone in jail? (high security jail = expensive)

In Australia, i heard it's around $270AUS a day (don't quote me on it though. only heard it from somewhere). Assume they live another 40 years. That's $3,942,000 all up. Wee pay 4 million to keep some killer locked up in some jail... 4 million is more than what most people can earn in their lifetimes... pointless much?

Wee stick him in jail, and wee continue to pay for his crimes, adding more detriment to the original crime.
