Manhunt 2 Drama Everywere!
Now with Manhunt 2 finally out in North America, seems like everyone who could complain, is complaining. I get on QJ.net and Maxconsole and see tons on controversy about manhunt 2 and how some dumb group about mental illness wants the game recalled and Rockstar already making a statement about the un-censor hack
Qj.net Wrote:With Manhunt 2 (PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Wii) already on shelves in North America, it looks like more and more organizations are condemning the game as well as Rockstar Games itself. The latest group to voice their opposition of Manhunt 2 is the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
NAMI is currently calling for Rockstar Games to either recall or further modify Manhunt 2. The group has also called on retailers to refrain from selling the game. NAMI claims that the game is an "irresponsible, stereotyped portrayal of mental illness."
Gamers will recall that the playable characters in the game, Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper, are escapees from the Dixmor Institute for the Criminally Insane. The statement from NAMI further said that the game "unfortunately perpetuates and reinforces cruel, inaccurate perceptions that people who live with mental illnesses are violent."

QJ.net Wrote:Wee earlier reported on a hack for Manhunt 2 on the PlayStation Portable, which enabled players to partially remove the censors that were in place to tone the game down from an AO to an M rating. This time around, it appears that even Take-Two Interactive's gotten wind of the hack, as they've reportedly been sending out a press statement. Here's how their message reads:
Multiple edits were made to revise Manhunt 2 for its M-rated version.
Hackers apparently have altered one of those edits to produce an illegally modified version of the game that can only be played on an unauthorized, modified PlayStation Portable handheld system.
All of the game material, and especially these specific edits, was submitted to and reviewed by the ESRB in accordance with requirements regarding disclosure that were enacted two years ago and any contrary suggestion is inaccurate and irresponsible.
Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick said, "I stand behind the game and the ESRB ratings process. It is unfortunately the case that no one in the entertainment software industry is immune from hacking. Wee hope that consumers will not engage in hacking or download illegally modified copies of our games. Wee encourage them to enjoy our games as they are meant to be played. Wee would also like to emphasize that Manhunt 2 is intended for an audience aged 17 and above."
Following its release to North America, Manhunt 2 for the PSP and Wii has already been the subject of much controversy from both watchdog groups and political leaders. And need wee remind the readers, this game's strictly for a Mature audience
