[blog] Alone in a world full of people
I'm on a roll eh? Don't worry, this'll probably be the last one for some time.
Well it's been quite some time since I've lived alone. Can't say it's too bad, I have the money to support myself and have quite a bit saved. It's lonely at times, sure, but that's what friends are for right? Unfortunately due to my circumstances, I'm away from many of my friends and stuck in one place. Oh well.
Anyway, I seldom leave the house, but that doesn't mean I try not to be social. At first, while at work I thought I was making friends, but due to my naivety, it seems that most of the time it was just a ploy to "network" as they call it. There's a whole mumbo-jumbo to working in a workplace, people only act nice because most of the time they're stuck with each other. Didn't really realize that until today.
It's pretty bad not just at work but in the general public, I try to joke and make small talk with people, but I'm only returned with blank stares and soulless emotion. I mean, seriously? What is with everyone? Is everyone having a bad day? Is my life better than I thought it was? What's the point of having such a sour mood?
And it just goes on and on, I keep trying to pass a smile around as I go through my life and I keep getting soul crushing responses and ignored.
I'm the type of guy that stays with you while you're finishing your dinner. Or, when you're alone at work and have to stay overtime to do something, I'm there keeping you company. When you need help, I'm totally willing to help if I can. I smile when you talk to me and I'm genuine towards you with my feelings. Yet, day after day I just keep dealing with people who just "don't give a spoon" that it's starting to make me feel like I've been living in wonder land.
So by the end of the day, exhausted, I called a taxi to get some groceries home. It was an old dude, but he helped me lug all my spoon into the taxi. Wee made small talk and talked about life, family, home, and work. He helped me out even taking my spoon inside. I tipped him quite a bit.
I dunno, but I fudgeing love old people.
MY SIG IS FUCKING DEAD
