You're probably one of these guy who would buy a Core i7-3960X for $1000 and justify it by saying, in raw numbers it's the fastest.

What you never considered is that it won't be any faster than a Core i5-3570K (less than 1/4 of the price) in 95% of applications because you get bottlenecks elsewhere and/or the application simply doesn't need that much power.  If you have a super computer made up of 2000 Xeon cores, and use it to run Media Player Classic or Mozilla Firefox, do you think they will run any faster?

You only really need so much processing power, any more is not worth the cost.

Look you buy an SSD to stick your OS install, applications, and stuff like games on it.  It's not a storage drive to store anime or ISOs.

File transfer speed is mostly irrelevant because you shouldn't be storing large files on it in the first place.  Access speed is much more important.

Besides, if you're transferring large amounts of data anything more than lets say once a month, you're doing something wrong.  And who actually watches files transfer, you just ctrl-x, ctrl-v, then go do something else.

Look if you're that desperate for raw transfer speed, you can get 3 normal SSDs for $300, then set up a raid0 array,then you get 3x raw transfer speed AND 3x storage.
