diego_429 Wrote:i will probably use that as a reference when buying this. . but ill wait a while first since the new AMD processors are coming out. .
my current PC specs are:
intel core 2 duo 6300
1 gb ram
ASUS extreme ax 550 series video card (512mb)
19'' samsung syncmaster 940bw lcd
only 80gb hard drive >.<
PS: im getting a new computer so I don't have to share with my 2 siblings that hog it alot
and one more question . . are my specs good enough or do I need more?

Your graphics card uses the Radeon x550 chipset. That's a rather old chipset, and compared to standards right now, is rather weak.

But ur CPU is good enough to play any game these days. After all, games do not need as high a CPU requirement generally as a GPU requirement, and your CPU is pretty good.

diego_429 Wrote:and is the NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6150 SE any good?

I don't know anything about Crysis, but I'm most certian that a geforce 6150SE won't really be enough.

That card is 3 generations old (it is of the geforece 6 series, wee are up to the geforece 8 series now), and a low end one even at that generation. So 3+ years ago, that would've been an average card. And SE is the weaker edition. Similar strength to, or probably weaker than your Asus x550.

If u want to play high end games (which i assume Crysis is) u have to atleast get something like a geforce 8600, which shouldn't cost u that much, about $130AU.

Peacefully Disturbed Wrote:I looked on the site where I get computer stuff from and put together a list of what I would consider a decent mid-high end DirectX 10 gaming system (prices are in Canadian dollars).

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - $339.99
RAM: OCZ Platinum XTC REV.2 PC2-6400 2GB - $109.99
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA2 - $93.83
VGA: EVGA E-GEFORCE 8800GTS 576MHZ 320MB 1.7GHZ - $336.30  (I'd probably get the 640MB if I had the extra cash)
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 64BIT DVD OEM  - $227.11
Main: ASUS P5KC - $170.20
SND: Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Gamer - $109.60 (I'd personally get the Auzentech Prelude if I could fit it in the budget)
PSU: Silverstone Zeus ST65ZF 650W - $139.99
Case: Thermaltake Soprano VB1000BWS - $107.18
DVD: LG GSA-H55N Black - $39.09 X 2 = $78.18

Total:  $1,712.37 CAD ($73,635.60 PHP) ($1,898.50 AUD)

A few of those are personal preference, like I wouldn't want anything other than Vista Ultimate if I was moving to Vista.  Also not everyone would care about having a separate sound card, and could cut back with a cheaper case.  Overall though that would be a pretty decent system, and with some extra cooling you could OC it fairly well too.

I'm not disagreeing with any of your choices, but I'll just share a plan like something that I'll get.

CPU: Intel E6550 = $215 (if u want better, Q6600 = $329, not really that neccessary for gaming. gaming is more GPU heavy than CPU)
RAM: 2x1gb kingston DDR2 RAM = $105
GPU: 8600gt 512mb ram = $185 (if u want better, get what peacefully disturbed suggested)
HDD: Maxtor SATA 320gb = $88
SPU: meh, integrated is fine, IMO.
Power supply: anything that'll work is fine. SHAW 600w, =$35
Case: anything is fine. If u want to save, just get a cheap one. If u want flashy, get a good one.
Fan: same as case. A cheap fan is like $5
Motherboard: just get some cheap one. if u want it to look coll, then get a better one.

Total= about $700.

Include a monitor, and peripherals and stuff, about $900-1000 Australian dollars. will play all games, maybe not at absolute top settings for some games, but at good settings.
