I looked up this route on Bulbapedia and discovered that all three things you can catch here (Spearow, Rattata, and Sandshrew) are dupes.  So I decided that I'd catch another Spearow and take him to Vermilion to trade for that Farfetch'd (not that I'd ever use it...)

I finally made it to Lavender Town.  There were four trainers right outside the exit of Rock Tunnel, but none of them were worth showing here.
