I'd actually prefer it being advertised, at least more than Chrome does it (dunno about Chromium).  It's a pain to go to the website to download a new version, yet not know if it is indeed a newer version, or what changes have been made.
But people will soon ignore the constant version update from Firefox anyway, if it's much of a bother.
