I know a lot of the graphic artists here (myself included) post some, if not all, of their graphics work to their deviantArt galleries.  Anyways, a MAJOR situation is brewing that all dA users should be aware of.

Apparently, back in the middle of December one of dA's affiliates (now former affiliate) was hacked and the email addresses of some (but not all) dA users were 'borrowed'.  This is a MAJOR problem.

Basically, if someone gets into your email, they can get your dA password.  With that, they can get into your dA account and change your account's email address.  Once they do that, a few simple clicks and your account is deactivated.  PERMANENTLY.  It's a major security hole, but sadly the dA staff seem to disagree....

Though it was originally believed the 'borrowed' emails would simply result in more sPa/\/\, that is clearly not the case.  During the past few weeks a number of minor dA accounts were cracked and deactivated (now referred to as "Cractivation").

To make things worse, the past 48 hours have seen some of dA's top artists fall victim as well (though most of the top artists managed to have their accounts reactivated, something dA has claimed could never be done....predictably, this has led to a ton of drama, stuff I won't bore you with here).

Simply put, anyone here who has a deviantArt account should make sure their account and email passwords are secure (you may want to consider changing them anyways) as well as securing your email security questions (If a hacker has your email address and you have an easy security question, you might as well give him your password)
