Also, just think... someone had to make this tower in the first place, so someone was carrying this poo poo up the tower with them while they worked. Some people have a lot of balls... I can't stand being 10 feet off the ground, let alone 1760 feet O.O

Well, obviously. But, to me, it is the thought of being out of control for so long. The anticipation of your own death.
Considering it takes ~1200-1800 feet to reach terminal velocity for a human, which is supposedly about 150 ft/s (different sources are giving different info), that would mean it would take at LEAST 10 seconds of freefalling, with complete loss of control. THAT is what scares me. The actual impact? Won't even feel it.
