I believe MP3/AAC decoding is done by hardware, so CPU speed should have little effect on it.  Interesting.

I found on 60MHz some of my higher quality mp3s (usually 320kbps) would skip through out the song. Increased the cpu and this stopped.

You make a valid point about two copies for different situations though.

For music yea i could take it down to 100MHz but really im not fussed. I never listen to music long enough to flatten my battery all that much.
