try Gankutsuou, Monster, Full Metal Alchemist and Akira, all excellent seriously themed anime, and almost all gundam anime

Cowboy Bebop, Saiyuki, Gantz, Elfen Lied, Berserk, Nana, Ergo Proxy, Technolyze, Serial Lain Experiments, Death Note, Code Geass, Blood+, Ponyo, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Samurai Champloo, Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne are serious too.

am i the only person here who likes this kind of anime O.o, well heartless and others likes gundam and code geass also, and elfen lied for most. i just noticed most people here like the "moe" type. or am i just too old that i prefer the serious ones over the "moe" type, which i also watch sometimes O.o
