If you don't know much about music theory, I'd highly suggest learning about chords. It pretty much underlies 99% of all modern music (and you're using it without really knowing it lol).
Actually, to put it simply, consider a song in C major (you know about keys right?). A chord (triad) I would be C, E, G. Chord II would be a note higher, i.e. D, F, A. Music is pretty much based on manipulations on these chords.
Your first section is in a minor key and goes chord I » chord V (with some inversions) » chord VI and repeats.
