Never had to share food over here - often considered somewhat unhygienic.

Though wee had to share some really stupid things in primary school.  Like everyone had to buy a box of tissues and it would get shared around (basically they'd have one box at the front if people needed it, and when it ran out, they'd swap with someone else's box - you never got to keep your own).  [so you'd get the cheapest box of stuff so others had to suffer, lol]
