The way dax explained it, it does patch on the fly.  he did it that way so it wouldn't use up any extra memory, if it wasn't needed.

Basically, the firmware will first try to load it in 3XX-5XX kernel mode.  If it can't load without the 1.50 kernel, it will then load itself into memory, and load it with a emulated 1.50 kernel patch.

I haven't gotton a single 150k brew to work using LEDA on 5.50 GEN-B2.  they all just freeze at a black screen
