the error doesn't seem to be with the distro, that's the thing. the error is with hal. which means its most likely a combination of my xorg.conf files, and the detection of hardware. So theoretically, the error COULD occur in Kubuntu, in which case, i wouldnt be able to use the keyboard or mouse, and would be stuck without a way out.

it took 6 days because i was taking my time, juggling it with classes and other things. plus, i had it configured on the 2nd morning. i just spent a lot of time getting the packages and programs i wanted, and theming it.
