Running the recovery flasher won't actually do anything unless you confirm options in the menu.  I'd imagine the risk of something going wrong when writing to the battery is low, but then IDK.  Installing DCv8 shouldn't be an issue.

Ok. I used DCv8 and cory's battery tool, made the memstick and battery, and is now on 5.00 m33-4.
