Also the car makers bid for 17brazillion dollars or whatever they requested.  Someone made a comment instead of give the car makers all this money, why doesn't the government give the CAR BUYERS a big bonus incentive to buy a brand new car instead of keepin their current one running.

I think everyone that is in charge of the monies of companies need to be put in a classroom and relearn basic math and financial management.  These people are idiots and so are the ones who decided that ceos and top level executives need to make 100x more money per year than the people who are actually doing all the work to keep the companies alive?

But the reason is that the companies aren't getting enough money from the economy to pay for all the workers, so that's why all this layoff is happening.
