I have yet to see any overbearing internet filters on any of the computers. They just say they track your activity, and that's it. I EP it up between classes all the time.
same, except I'm still at secondary school. Everyone who's doing an IT a-level needs access to youtube (video tut's) and needs to be able to download exe and zip files (for the work units). The admin at school is a lazy SOB* and couldnt be assed to only alow us to do those things. instead he just unblocked everything (awesome!). I now do all my uploading in school (8meg upload compared to 128k upload at home)
of course there has been trouble. people have offered me considerable amounts of money to find out passwords of people who do the IT course. of course i just tell them that if it matters so much why don't they learn how to find these things out for themselves. Someone did manage to get hold of a password and then used it to go on on hershey kisses. the person who's password was 'borrowed' got into trouble for it but was cleared after internet logs and his alibi were checked.
*so lazy in fact that when i gave him some info on suspicious behaviour the other day he still hasn't done anything about it. Also, in the sixth form computer room there are 15 computers, 8 of which boot, 6 of which have keyboards, 4 of which have mice. Its gotten to the point where i take my own mouse to school. I've asked many times for new mice and keyboards but wee aren't getting any. The school have plenty of spares. under the stage is a computer hardware graveyard, with boxes piled high with old unused stuff. I'd be willing to bet a large amount of money that 90% of it still works and is perfectly usable, its just that the school is too GODDAMN LAZY to sort it out!
