Hacking is more thinking outside the square - you typically won't find many resources on it (if you do, it's probably half-assed).  It's like this - you typically think of how someone has implemented something, then try to think of possible weaknesses in the implementation.  It's not an exact science, and it's not like a "fight" in the sense that brute force doesn't necessarily win.

yup.. however, if you really need a direction, start by learning some basic programming languages and how they are implemented in webpages. Also, networking basics.

then experiment experiment experiment!
