Xvid and DivX both uses the MPEG4 ASP (Advanced Simple Profile) compression, as compared to the x264 codec, which follows the newer MPEG4 AVC (Advanced Video Coding) standard, aka H.264 standard. So XviD and DivX are not as advanced as H.264.

Contrary to popular saying, XviD and DivX are not actually video formats. The video format is MPEG4 ASP. XviD and DivX just encode into MPEG4 ASP. Codec ≠ video format. So a DVD player that can play ASP (commonly known as DivX compliant DVD player) should also be able to play XviD, (and 3ivX and quicktime 6 and others as well).

Most of the non-official (like fansubs, DVD scene releases) AVI stuff you'll find out there probably uses XviD. Most official (like trailers from game companies) AVI stuff you find probably uses DivX.

Most MKV stuff you find out there probably uses x264.

But ofcourse, AVI and MKV are not restricted to these codecs only. You can theoretically stick almost everything in MKV.

I only download HD Releases if the title is favorably better with the quality increase. Not that they all would.... but its like saying Toei Animation should have HD Releases like CoMiX Wave Animation - its just crazy talk! ^____^

I have a relatively large computer screen (21inch), so 640x480 on full screen looks pretty blurred for me. So HD is always better.

I wish I had a nice big screen >_<

I'm REALLY REALLY picky when it comes to watching stuff. Even more picky with movies than with anime. I never watch movies with people around.

Only not on PSP (small screen :\ ), but on computer and plasma TV instead.

PSP does a surprisingly good job..... ......... .................. Plasma TV....... want =*_*=

As for entertainments, I don't get distracted easily.... BUT it depends on the title, if its something you can miss a bit of and forget about it - I must of dropped it already ^_^
