If you actually look at it, games aren't that bad in pricing, compared to some other media.
Lets assume that game for $50 you are going to spend 50 hours on. So that's $1/hr. $1/hr is not that much. If you are really into the game, and spend lets say 1000 hours on it, then it's 5c per hour, or very cheap.
Not lets take a movie DVD. That's like $15 (My guess. Don't know how much they are in the US) for 100 minutes. Which is $9/hr. Ofcourse, movies have a higher enjoyment ratio per time than games (probably) so you might take that into account, but still, games are a lot better under this analysis, unless you enjoy your movie 12x more than your game (in which case you shouldn't be playing that game, cause it's poo poo).
And your music. $10 for 20 tacks. Each track lets assume is 5 minutes long. That's $10 for 100 minutes, or $6/hr. Only thing is that it's more worth it than the movies cause you are going to listen to the tracks over and over, thus gaining a lot more hours than the single pass 100 minutes, while the movie you're probably going to most likely watch once. At most 3 times.
So between games, movies and music, movies = most ripoff. But that's still not too bad compared to lots of other stuff I can name.
But it really depend on the person, and how much utility you derive out of each activity. Some people thinks it's it's worth it to pay $20,000 to scalpers to go to a Hannah Montana (whatever it's spelled) concert (heard on TV). I think these people are complete retards, who deserve to die, but wee want to keep alive only because they feed us money. But hey,
somehow, they think it's worth it.
