so i have a sony vaio laptop, and im looking for an upgrade.
the problem i am having is looking for a compatible processor for my mobo.

i checked with sony and, well, they told me to buy a new laptop. >.>

SO That's WHERE YOU ALL COME IN =D

i already found a nice 4g ramstick on ebay for 20$

right now i have a...
Processor

Speed: 2.20GHz
L2 Cache: 1MB
Model:VPCEE31FX/BJ
looking for somethgin in the market of 4g~
posibly a phenom?

Question 1: how much is this guna cost me?
Question 2: Will this make my codeing life better?
Question 3: overheating? will my current fan work, or should i look into alternitive means of cooling.

Graphics
Processor: ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4250
Graphics

also, for 400$ at walmat, this laptop aint bad, but i need a bit more muscle.

Not really.
Programming does not require much system power at all (unless your code is specifically system intensive) - probably the most intensive thing will be compiling large codebases, if you ever do that.

Unless you're looking into a quad core (which generally aren't that good for laptops), you won't get much from upgrading the CPU.
That's assuming you can upgrade the CPU too.

RE: Upgradeing laptop
well after some researching i found a nice phenom 2 "3.1gh" which will suit my needs nicely. and i found it on ebay for 199.99usd. iv already transfer the money over to buy 2 4gb ram sticks and when my next check comes ill get the processor. jeese. my laptop is now almost as good as my "Beast". I wonder if there is a website out there where you can type in your system information mobo, cpu, brand, ext. and it would tell you what items would be compatible with your computer. iv looked for something like that but i don't think they exist. perhaps after i finish my projects i should make one.

also, thanks for the help. =D

RE: Upgradeing laptop
you better make sure that the cpu you have and the cpu you intend to put in there use the same plug for your motherboard, or else you're going to have a $200 desk ornament.

laptop upgrades besides ram/hdd can get pretty tricky, make sure you know what you're doing before you do this. A cpu isn't quite as hard as a mobo/graphics replacement, but its not much below it either.

edit:

if this is your current processor: http://products.amd.com/en-us/NotebookCP...7=&f8=&f9=

and this is the new one: http://products.amd.com/en-us/NotebookCP...+W&f9=True

you should be ok. they both use an S1 socket, but I'd double check the wattage of your system seeing as the phenom takes roughly twice as much power as the athalon did.
