Though I never noticed any speed change and if what Sparker said was true, the banner should be different for every skin.

hmmm . . . i don't mind rotators. . .I liked the banner rotator. .and i think people are not complaining because before the banner changed everytime you load a new page. . your avatar only rotates when there is a thread with your post in it.. . .

Avatar doesn't load...

But anyways, your avatar ain't 150KB+ each and doesn't appear on all pages.  The banner also says something about the site whereas an avatar/signature does not.
