Since quite a few people like to post music in there (myself included), i was wondering if the format could be changed to be similar to that of the boretube category, since it's an easier layout for looking at, and posting

Only a tiny thing i know, but heh

So a Youtube link required for every new thread? Might be problematic if none is available.

By the way, I presume this is the Music Ratings forum you're speaking of?

Another issue may be that existing Youtube videos would need to be moved into the video field.

Nice suggestion By the way - seems quite logical.

Main problem is the amount of stuff the thread starter has to fill in.

Yeah, that's quite a cool feature actually, it is a lot to fill in, but its all logical

Only shame there is the demo forum doesn't seem to work to take a look at the input form

You could take a bit of a guess from the Custom Thread Fields it adds (it adds 8, so there'll be 8 rows).
Most of them are required fields.

The other issue would be migrating over to this. Would anyone be willing to manually fill in the fields for existing threads? Or perhaps just create a new forum and ditch the old?

Also am interested on other opinions on whether people are willing to fill in all that.

Logical, definitely. However I've never been too keen on a barrage of YT windows appearing at once. I like Music Ratings at it is now simply because it works as an index to a lot of the stuff that has been posted already.

No - an excellent collection of songs have been posted there already, don't see why wee should rid of it for this reason.

I like the idea. I welcome this if it's to be implemented.

I was thinking the exact same thing as roberth, about the boretube thing.

I like the change but I hate the restrictions. Can't I just leave them blank or something or do a checkmark thing to add what info wee want to add? :p

There's a flash based music player plugin for MyBB. If a video doesn't exist, post a url to the MP3 or whatever format it's in and have the plugin encode it.

The fields can be tweaked a bit to be optional I guess. The main thing would be that the system has to be clever enough to work around missing fields.

I guess it's possible to have both Youtube and an MP3 player, though I don't know how the thread listing layout would work with both together. :/ Stick a placeholder image for the MP3s where the video would be?
