RE: RCO Editor v1.10
This new update should allow people to fix other languages.

Alot of the labels were messed up in the hacked 3.03 topmenu_plugin.rco in other languages.

I HATE THE WORD FILTER!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully your program will help convince people *cough*Dark_Alex*cough* to work on getting those RCOs decompressed.
Whoa!  Nice :)

Probably won't work actually - it's because the text of one language over-wrote the text of another, so fixing the text of one of the language will most likely ruin another.  It's still possible, but VERY difficult.  I might take a look into making a "clean" 3.03 topmenu.

XD  Though nothing much in your post got filtered >_>

A little suggestion. You have the "Export All" option, could you add an "Import All" one? an option that would import all the files with default names? it would realy make it easy to make some "global" changes using irfanview's batch conversion.

RE: RCO Editor v1.10
OK, that last post was mine :) Decided to register because i have some other ideas

The "Extract All" option is a bit of a pain right now, beacuse it messes all four type of files on one folder. I do not know if the *.mig and *.dat even contain something usefull, but it would be cool if you could choose what file type you like to extract to, or extract all those four type into different folders.
And as mention before - replacing all files inside with just one click would be a realy neat feature :)

RE: RCO Editor v1.10
Sorry for double posting but you do not allow to edit posts after five minutes :)

I just found out that 2.50 sysconf_plugin.rco is 3.03 compatible. Which is great because I can translate most of the stuff to Polish :) There are tons of strings to edit and one annoying thing... if I find a new cool Custom XMB, i will have to manualy put all the Graphics into my translated RCOs, or translate all the messages again... Could you please  ^_^ add some string import/export features in next versions? :) It would totally rock if one could easily apply a new language :) (like replacing Italian with Polish)

And although 2.50 sysconf_plugin.rco is 3.03 compatible, there are some strings missing - do you think they could be added in 2.50 in the same manner the missing 3.03 graphics was added to 2.50?

Hmm, I'll think about that - thanks for the suggestion.

Actually, just use Windows Explorer's sort by filetype and you have the types of files you need.

Really?  Didn't know that :( - I'll have to fix that.  Thanks for telling me.

Yeah, the 2.50 is compatible, however many of the icons are missing.  The hacked 2.50 RCO that people are using for 3.03 has the other icons added in (actually, they're replaced with the glow/shadow pictures of the 2.50 RCO).
For languages, I'll really have to look into making a "clean" 3.03 RCO. (either that, or if Dark_AleX cracks the RCO encryption first...)

Never thought about a text "extract all" feature though - thanks for the suggestion :)

RE: RCO Editor v1.10
it's me again :D i just discovered that many of the 2.50 RCO work under 3.03 :) I'm translating psp xmb to polish (replacing the french language, just to leave the english one and have polish as an alternative, and i do not know french anyway :D)
up to now i translated:
sysconf_plugin.rco - some strings missing though, especially in System Settings but its passable :)
system_plugin.rco - works fine with no problems
topmenu_plugin.rco - that hacked version, so it's ok
photo_plugin.rco - works with no problems
video_plugin.rco - works with no problems, applies only to UMD-Video though, there is another one for mp4...
savedata_plugin.rco - seems to work fine

topmenu_plugin.rco is the only file with new graphics and it does not have a lot of strings, so i will be ok with the new custom themes / polish language adding for a while :)

and i have one bug report for you:
i was editing the french language in photo_plugin.rco and when i choose msgphoto_folder_info_image_limit variable, i get an error: "Subscript out of range" and the app exits. (just tested it again and its the same in english, no matter is it clean, or edited rco) after the app exits the file gets some additional bytes (it gets 274 kb) and it does not work on the psp. so for now i do not have the question about wallpaper overwriting translated, as changing it, gets me automatically to the msgphoto_folder_info_image_limit and breaks the rco

keep up the good work and thanks for this powerfull app :)

and one more little question, I've heard somewhere that your app now works with 2.60 rcos, is it true? and are there any major differences between 2.50 and 2.60 rco?

oh and the trick with sorting the icons in explorer does not work as the bmps (8 and 32) get mixed anyway :) instead I'm "searching" for files with "32" in the name to get all the 32-bit bitmaps into separate folder. there are still some issues with extraction though (i often get the images with gray background (at least paint and irfanview are seeing them that way) which makes them unusable :(

Wow, nice!
Though, yeah, a few of them cause problems/crashes.  Like sysconf, because there's missing resources when the PSP tries to find them.

Hmm, I just noticed that Erk  Dang, didn't know some text were just blank, but, nevertheless, I still need to make my program handle blank text resources.  Fixed already, so you'll get this change in the next release :P
Thanks for finding this out!

Elven Wrote:and are there any major differences between 2.50 and 2.60 rco?
Not really.  Just some people customized 2.60 RCOs instead of 2.50 RCOs - so I added the feature for compatibility.
The advantage of the 2.60 RCO is that the header is compressed, so it's slightly smaller than the equivalent 2.50 RCO.

Elven Wrote:oh and the trick with sorting the icons in explorer does not work as the bmps (8 and 32) get mixed anyway :) instead I'm "searching" for files with "32" in the name to get all the 32-bit bitmaps into separate folder.
You can use a batch file, for example, if you just want 32bit BMPs:
  1. Extract everything to a folder
  2. Open Notepad
  3. Copy the following
    Quote:del *.8bit.bmp
    del *.mig
    del *.dat
  4. Save the file in the same folder as all the extracted stuff, and name it d.bat
  5. Run d.bat

Neither of those two programs handle 32bit BMPs.  The only one I know which does the job is Photoshop, unfortunately Erk
