I already did in the past, so by what Hearty said, I should already be an omnipotent godly being!

No, that statement only applies from the time it was made.
You can't grab what people say in the future and apply it to present situations, for example.

RE: Zinga's Random Chatter
Watched this documentary video - first half is informative to someone who hasn't studied economics, but the second half is rather iffy.
Then I painfully watched through the follow on video - which is basically the guy going on about how banks are evil because they make profits (ya'know, like every other company out there).
Not claiming to be an expert economist, but the videos really do seem to be leaving out various things, like the counter arguments to Malthusian theories.
Then you have people like these who think they're experts just after watching the video, and start spouting poo poo.

RE: Zinga's Random Chatter
double you tee eff? Excel 2007 bugs up things if the filename contains square brackets.
Just spent hours to find that out.
Anyway, am considering whether I should upgrade PC now that Bulldozer was just fail...
Would consider Sandy Bridge E if 3930K was around $500 (or $550 and included a decent cooler) and $200 X79 motherboards are available, but I guess that'll never happen.
Don't really need an upgrade, but want to do so whilst the AUD is still high.
Ivy Bridge probably only gets about a 10% gain over Sandy, there's more hope in Piledriver perhaps, but those will probably only be out Q2 2012 - dunno if the AUD can still be high by then.
Maybe I'll just wait for the i7 2700K, although really, it's no different from a 2600K, seeing as the former has unlocked multiplier.
Only thing on my mind about SB is that the K processors don't have VT enabled (I think) and I'd like to know more about how Intel Insider exactly works.

RE: Zinga's Random Chatter
Got a cheapo Soniq 42in LCD TV from JB HiFi for $399.
Played around with it last night - not a bad panel for the price (I believe Soniq are just rebranded LG panels?).
Thing claims that it supports 10-bit colour, though I'm not too sure how well that works, especially since screens operate on RGB (I guess 8-bit YV12 » 10-bit RGB could be slightly more accurate than » 8-bit RGB; I don't know if there's even a way to send 10-bit sources through to the TV though).
Also has a USB port, where you can play media off it or record TV. Only tried the video playback. It recognises a lot of container formats, but only MPEG 1/2/4 (XviD) video from my sample tests, so I'll need to re-encode everything to XviD to view it on the TV.
One thing I was wondering though - I've got a USB male-male plug. I wonder if it's possible to get a computer to act as UMS (USB Mass Storage) device so I don't have to keep transferring stuff onto a USB...

RE: Zinga's Random Chatter
So I decided to cancel internet at my place cause god knows when they'll set it up (and I'm planning to move soon anyway).
So I've decided to try to get some super expensive wireless internet (which probably works out cheaper in the end since don't need to pay setup, just only less quota).
Saw a Dodo Christmas special, giving a USB modem with 5GB (or 10GB off-peak) for $25 delivered. Ordered, but then realised that this is Dodo, so god knows when they'll send it.
This sucks.

RE: Zinga's Random Chatter
Totally forgot that my wireless internet was expiring today.
Damn 1 month expiry. Only used like 2GB of the 5GB available...
So now I'm tethered to my phone. Thanks to Vodafail, it's really slow, constantly drops out, and I have a wondrous 200MB/month quota. Okay, the last bit I chose as I'm a cheapskate. And I just realised that they block port 25.

RE: Zinga's Random Chatter
Still got like 12GB to download in the next 2.5hrs before cap is reset. Let me calculate if I can even do that if downloading at max speed...
EDIT: NOPE, can only download around 8GB. Well, fuck.
