I always thought knock offs were made so pirates could make money from people recognizing brands and characters while not having to pay the original manufacturers/everyone else behind the original production.

Yes, but first and foremost, if there's no money to be made, then no-one would make knock-offs.

In which case you can only really buy from reliable sources then...

I used to have this stupid Pokemon knock off when I was like 7, where the painters must've been high or drunk because the colours were totally incorrect. The only one I can clearly remember was Mewtwo(?) was Dark Teal and his belly was hot pink.
Also I used to think Jetter Mars was a knock off of Astro Boy and I wouldn't find out he was a official Tezuka Osamu character until I played the GBA Astro Boy game.

Most of my stuff are knock off's partially because the only figures you'll find at expo's are fakes. The only official nendroid I have is that of an Exit Trance first press, and a Hime lolita figure (I think it's legit I'll check later). I hope to get a proper Marisa figure when I get another job, till then I have to hold back.....plus importation has risen in price, places like playasia and jlist have redicuously expensive!....£60 for the item...then £40~£60 for posting....my smelly arse

So, are Touhou merchandised officially licensed? I had my doubts but then again, some characters some another doujin game I played have been officially made into figures.

And yah I confirmed it IS a boot leg and I know what she will look like.
But I guess its ok my job has exelent pay for my hard work.
+ I love miku so much money or authenticity not a problem
Hell ill be glad to take her pooop! (NOT JOKING)
