WikiLeaks mass-mirror attempt
It seems that after the recent leaks, they've sensed that their website/servers (not just their DNS) may be taken down so are attempting some mass mirrorings.  Well, the site is only a few GB, and only are static files, so quite feasible to do, and mirrors don't require much resources.
Synching between the main site and mirrors is done via rsync over ssh.

They claim they have another megaleak that will bring down a bank sometime next year.... it's amazing really... let's see what happens...

Poor website is so messed up. Links leading to nowhere and crazy slow oading times. Also all the logs and "Secret Documents" have to be downloaded via piratebay torrents.

Whilst i appreciate the point of the site is to promote freedom of information, some of the stuff its leaking is just to get headlines and ruin country relations, which is just ridiculous imo

I doubt there are many who go to all the effort merely to be altruistic.  The people whom the leaked documents damage have their own agendas, and similarly, the people doing the leaking would have their own agendas too... >_>

So very true. People will also try to make their side or point of view look better. I just find it very embarrassing that the US military allowed this to occur. I mean they are the number one force/military in the world. They shouldve had more security measures for all these documents being leaked. I heard that the guy who leaked all this stuff just entered the database with a CD-RW disc filled with music and then burned all the documents on it. If you have classified documents you should make sure no one can duplicate them or take them out of the database. I hope the military learns from this mistake.

RE: WikiLeaks mass-mirror attempt
Look, I'm all for the exposure of dirty secrets to push a point or galvanize a government into doing something about a thing; but there's a line, and I'm of the opinion that Wikileaks has not only put a toe over the line, but grabbed a jet-pack fuelled with sensitive documents, and is flying over the line at mach 2, showing no signs of stopping.
Given the choice between having wikileaks around to expose sensitive spoon, and not having it; I would choose to not have it. Secrets are secrets for a reason, and they need to remain so.

If you had to choose between one or the other, what would it be?

The US could probably be doing more if they cared enough.. but while these leaks are making waves they don't seem to be making a big difference to US politics, yet. Considering WikiLeaks has only just got started, maybe wee will see a difference as it continues. I hope so, I'd like to see more transparency in the worlds governments.
