Windows + Photoshop. It exists already. No point in trying to bash something that's already perfectly functional.

RE: GIMP unstable single-window mode
not bashing anything, just defending my baby.

and what about support? honestly, support for linux comes from the whole community, not a customer support company. (although, there is one for ubuntu, if that's what you like). for example, i posted a question about my slackware installation, and you know who answered it? patrick volkerding, the creator of slackware. if i ask a question about windows, i get answered by some guy in india about it. (i doubt bill gates will be answering any posts complaining about his OS) not to mention that everything in linux is free, legally.

RE: GIMP unstable single-window mode
wat.

How is using Gimp bashing Windows or Photoshop?

I, for one, prefer open source software, over pirating 9001 dollar software that does virtually the same thing.

And Windows (Proud) may be functional, but Linux is more functional.

I'm gay.

edit: woo compiling gimp-2.7.1 right now.

Had to build gegl and babl from source, but everything else came from Synaptic. I didn't spend all day building spoon because I'm not using Slackware. Oh the joys of Linux, and having distributions depending on the taste of the user, unlike both Windows and Mac, where it's all the damn same.

i had to build gegl, babl, glib, gtk+, gdk_pixbuf, and some dependencies of gtk+

but its not that difficult. cheers to an operating system that rewards those willing to not be idiots.

RE: GIMP unstable single-window mode
Exactly lol.

And you're running KDE aren't you? That'd be why you had to build GTK+ and all that.

but there's something oddly satisfying about building a bunch of spoon from source, lol. Woo

RE: GIMP unstable single-window mode
i just install what i want in advanced install options >_>

i don't always need complete installation, that's why i uncheck what i don't need.

so no, it's not always the same.

i am not and will never be an idiot, so don't treat me like one just because i use windows.

i don't need support systems, when i have problems i ask the windows community, or the community of the program I'm having problems with.

customer support is there for people who aren't computer literate, i on the other hand am.

I can use linux proficiently, i can and have, it was my OS for over a year. It is no more or less functional than windows.

But i hated it because it made menial tasks such as installing programs annoying.

I appreciate linux, i just can't stand to be the one using it.

what, were you using Slackware or something?

check this out:

Code:
sudo apt-get install *whatever*

and done. What's difficult about that? That's how I install programs. If you ask me, that's a whole chocolateload less annoying then download .exes of the internet, then installing them to a directory that's not even included in the PATH variable, then having to search for them in the Start menu, and some old apps don't even install Start menu shortcuts, so I have to go rummaging around in the useless directory they were installed to, just to run them. Whereas Linux,

Code:
sudo apt-get install gimp
gimp

easy as that. Now tell me how that is remotely difficult or annoying.
