It's a long time ago i know but the man who dropped the bomb on $ony and who started the scene all by himself is:
Humma Kavula (& Friends) author of umdemulator and fastloader
He's responsible for the fact that you can now play backups on your psp.
He retired soon after releasing umdemulator 0.8C.
But he was so kind to give Dark Alex the source, who later used it and further developed it as part of his cfw's.
And do not forget Booster author of devhook.
It's a magnificent achievement to crack a closed system.
Which cannot be said about editing source code and hex editing files
And nowadays wee have to be thankful for people like Wololo and friends and Liquidzigong.
Those people don't say much but deliver high quality
I have forgotten none of these heroes. ;)
I was referring to the fact that DAX did an incredible job reverse engineering SONY's code.
And that information was later shared with Team GEN. (By DAX himself)
I can't say I think any bad of Liquidzigong for keeping things alive.
It appeared GEN was all done. And yoshihiro had announced "no more cfw from me"
I don't think Team GEN should act too infringed upon...

custom 6.xx firmware has been in use by less than 12 people since the pspgo was released...unfortunately they are more 1337 than us and us mere mortals never were good enough to deserve it :(
That comes from a reputable source *though he did not use those exact words...* who gave me photographs of things he was doing that can only run on custom firmware being used on a psp go.,,I swore i would never tell and asked for a member application to the 1337 group, but was denied :( I even tried wearing a members only jacket when asking and was again denied.

The tags from GEN cfws are now long obsolete and since the majority are using ISO Tool or the manual method with UMDGen/WQSG_UMD, I think it's better to just use M33. I know it's what I'm using until a 6.XX cfw is out (mostly because of the code cleanup from Sony in the 6.XX series, not for those useless Comics and SensMe apps, lol).
Given the recent updates in game encryption I think it's better to have a clean, no-frills cfw, and just patch the games. So this "Prometheus cfw" thing is pretty much useless to me, I think.

It isn't useless at all. Wee just use a clean ISO and play without patching up things. Also people still buy UMDs and want to play them OTB without ripping and patching.
I enjoyed Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep like this.
