you guys just all like jrpgs, so you don't want to admit that theyre anything other than your preconcieved notions. in reality, they are much closer to adventure games, and often don't even contain very many rpg elements.

this whole thread is full of butthurt.

I much prefer traditional RPGs over JRPGs, but I still think JRPGs are a kind of RPG. A subdivision of the genre.

Not really, the only ones that come to mind are the Sting games. Most games nowadays fit into a specific genre... even moreso than back then actually!

agreed and all these genre classifications are just going to bring up more heated debates on whether or not something is or is not something else.

genre classifications just create people who are in love with one type of game because of what people said and how they were categorized

may be 4-5 is a bit over exaggerated but there are games defies their genre like inFamous, everyone assumed it gonna be a RPG, but it more like a third person shooter to me :P

Why even bother with classifying games into genres? Look at the game and it's gameplay, then decide if you like to play it or don't^^
