And bluray does NOT mean auto 1080p. Some blurays look so bad even 720p would be too much (eg. AIR. 576p at most for that poo poo). And that's why sometimes encoders refuse to encode 1080p, not because they have shit computers, but because the stuff just isn't 1080p quality.

That will have gone through at least 2 passes of aa()/maa()/daa()/nnediaa()/aaa(), (or 1 pass of downsampled aa), to get rid of the horrible aliasing[/url] (unless it's still there?). And after that, I fail to see how anything could be "crystal". Sure they can sPa/\/\ lots of sharpen afterwards, but that just makes it look "artificial".

#downsize to 720p, spline36 or lanczos is what most encoders use.
Spline36Resize(1280,720)

#upsize back to 1080p, your media player probably uses either bilinear or bicubic.
BicubicResize(1920,1080)

Save as something.avs, and run that in MPC. Since you have an i7, it should be able to handle the resize operations on the fly without any lag (resize doesn't cost much anyway).

If you can't really see much difference compared to your original 1080p, then you could have just downloaded a 720p and resized with your media player to get pretty much the same result.

Actually, not exactly the same... some technical differences on what x264 does with the video... but lets not talk about that.
