I basically believe that part of the reason the population keeps increasing so drastically is because of how much natural selection has been removed from society. Of course, it makes sense that grouping together will increase survival rate, but the adaptations wee've made over the years lose their original intent, and only become an impediment.

For instance, wee isolated ourselves from outside harm, unless wee put ourselves purposefully in nature's path, such as living in tornado alley, or camping in a dangerous area, or something else that will incur a wave of natural selection soon enough. However, because wee've isolated ourselves, wee had to further protect ourselves with things such as childproofing entire houses, imposing stupid laws that only protect the stupid (looking at seatbelt laws and some areas' cellphone while driving laws; if they want to go 80mph on their cellphone with no seatbelt, let em).

Now, the intelligent, who practice safe sex, or who decide whether or not it is the proper time to have a family, start to reproduce at an average of about 2 kids per family, and usually once the male feels able to support his family. Then there is trash that has never heard of a condom, has sex every day from the day they turned 14, and have 2 kids by the time they are 20, and because they already show little ability to reason, there's little chance the kid's genes are going to be much better. Of course, the genes aren't going to be completely phenotypically identical to their parents, but they also will have grown up around this parent, and will pick up their habits. This applies to guys, as well as girls, by the way.

There are more side arguments I often bring up when discussing it, but some are far too hypothetical, or are purely meant for musing, so I won't list them here. I just wish natural selection had a larger role... I have grown a general contempt for idiots -.-

tl:dr - Not enough ways to kill stupid people. Humans, as a whole, are getting dumber (and lazier, but that is a side-argument).
