Seinen anime tends to have sad endings a lot (one with a lot or all characters dying). US TV shows and movies tend not to do stuff like that. They'd get complaints of "why you kill off that character", "they just did it for shock value", etc. Shows get pulled too easily in America, and a lot of movies tend to follow the same trend.

no, but sometimes it matters. take clannad for example, if it ends like wee all thought it would be, (a sad ending) then it would have been higher in my list, instead of the ending wee got.

you seem to be quite alone in that, Heartless. On MyAnimeList.. Clannad ~After Story~ is No.1 and the only anime with 9.0~ overall rating. It's damn right, too.

ive seen most art films not having a happy ending, most of them have questionable endings, whether the characters get happy or sad ending, which is the viewers left with the dilemma and with their choice what is the real ending, but for meh, i still prefer happy ending, i want a movie that i feel more at ease after watching it than feeling more a downer, lol

back to ontopic: say, not that i don't like sad ending, but some were executed pretty badly. (say, Light's end was perfect, i just don't like how he got to that state)

Ok, I'm going to bump Clannad up a bit higher in the "to watch" list in my mind.

If I remember correctly, he refuses to watch stuff like Code Geass and Death Note because they're too serious, and he likes watching comedy dramas and moeshit instead.

But then why did he watch Kara no Kyoukai? That's no less srsbsns compared to Death Note, and definitely a whole lot more srsbsns than Code Geass or FMA.
