you can't be unreasonable, you bought your PS1 games, they'd expect you to have a PSX or a PS2, if you don't, then it's your fault.
because there's no way in hell one would go buy a PS1 CD right now and expect it to be playable on PS3.
most people nowaday buy a PS3 to play a PS3 game really, BC is only be a nice extra that people think it's possible but sony is too uhh -insert random words here- to do it. i don't know why, i want it as well (but i have a modded ps2 so I'm all good). people is just being greedy, wants more bang for their bucks.

selling PSone classics is mostly because of what hec said, they arnt in the shop anymore, it's hard to find.

they cost alot less than an actual hard copy, 10 bucks? for a game you would pay 50 bucks on release date. and they are basically indestructible. last forever and convenience.
so i don't see why it is stupid.

and i think it's not included is because of some exploit or hardware failure rate. the 60gb s have the biggest failure rate afterall. whatever the reason is, I'm sure it's not because they still want to sell more ps2. there's no more profits apart from the actual hardware cost < cost of production profit. right now a more reasonable move is improve the PS3 market, not trying to squeeze out a few last coins from a half dead console.

Dude,. people don't want 3 console's wired to the tv,.. the option to play PS1 and PS2 games on the PS3 was removed,.... and maybe the PS2 caused problems,. but PS1 games should work and they do,. because they will sell them again in the store soon,.. anyway i don't think they removed the PS1&PS2 option because the PS3 became unstable,.. anyway i could find any valid reason why sony removed the feature,.. and you won't get any answer on the PS site either,..

PS2 are on sale,. and they still sell! alot.

Don't get me wrong but believe me they will make big $$$$ selling PS1 games in the new Payed Store option.

RE: Sony and Paid PSN
since buying my ps3 ive maybe only played 1 PS1 game on it and 1 PS2 game. and that was when i just got it and was running out of games to play.

backward compatibility is a very over focused-on feature.

people somehow magically expected the ps3 to get cheaper AND retain full backward compatibility without emulation. This means keeping the Emotion Engine from the PS2 in the PS3, like they did on the first set of models launched in Japan and the US, which then requires a more expensive motherboard layout to accommodate it.

Sony made a decision, what would sell more units? lowering the price and removing BC and then the customer would keep their PS2 or PS1, or keeping it in with a higher pricetag, which was the biggest gripe everyone had with the PS3. I should know, i paid £430 for mine

RE: Sony and Paid PSN
emulating PS2 games on the PS3 should't be a problem,.. PS1 backward compatibility is not suported for old cd's,. but will be in the new payed store,............
Comparing the PS3 price then and now,.. double you tee eff!>?!>?,. sony should have added compatibility by now,.. offcourse the console was more $$ back then,. ... and there aint any profit on a PS3 console anyway,. all profit comes from the games sold,.. and this explains the whole new payed store maybe,.. selling PS1 games again,.

Anyway i am just guessing,.. i am not sure about the PS2 games but the PS1suport is't here now and that's just weird because they will add PS1 suport in the new payed online store,..

I prob will buy a year account of $70,..... ... liek everyone else,. and sony knows,.. Hihi
