Eh, my criticism is probably useless as I don't even really like this kind of music to be honest, so take what you want (or just ignore all of it).
Haven't listened to the whole thing, but skipping through, it's quite repetitive, including the chord progression, melody, sub-melody and even the beat.
I'm not that great at identifying chords, but sounds like a I » Vb7 » VI » I » Vb7 etc pattern at the beginning. I recommend making it a little more interesting, but if you don't, at least add a V chord in there (ie I » Vb7 » VI » V » I) as a VI » I progression is a little weird, especially when repeated.
Second main part sounds like I » V » VI » IV » I etc which is better (quite a typical progression in many modern songs actually).
I'd also vary the pattern, eg, instead of the first part where you have groups of three notes played in descending order, try to make more of a tune out of it.
I understand you're probably focusing more on the beat, but there's no harm in a better melody (personally, it's actually what sticks out the most though).
Otherwise, impressive to make something this long :)
Xitherun Wrote:Zinga, will you quit knowing everything.
I'll give you an example if you want.
Sibelius 5 doesn't work on Windows 7; probably will have to find a copy of Sibelius 6. Or I can record off the piano next Wednesday, lol.
If you don't know much about music theory, I'd highly suggest learning about chords. It pretty much underlies 99% of all modern music (and you're using it without really knowing it lol).
Actually, to put it simply, consider a song in C major (you know about keys right?). A chord (triad) I would be C, E, G. Chord II would be a note higher, i.e. D, F, A. Music is pretty much based on manipulations on these chords.
Your first section is in a minor key and goes chord I » chord V (with some inversions) » chord VI and repeats.
Hope that helps (if at all, lol).

Sounds cool. I actually think it would be great for an old school game.
Maybe if I ever get the chance to write some of these homebrew games I have planned, I will ask you for permission to use your song in one of them :D

@Zinga: I understand chords just fine, (this is in the key of A Minor), but I don't really get the chord progression thing.
And the 'chord progression' I used in the main melody was I VI(an octave down) III V (an octave down). So it's technically in a minor key, but 3/4 of the chords are major.
