More Chicago Mayors put in the slammer
For those who probably don't follow things in Chicago...here's cliff notes of the past year
November 2007
George Ryan Sr., a consummate political dealmaker who rose to become Illinois' 39th governor, was convicted Monday on sweeping federal corruption charges of wielding power to help himself and his friends.
After a historic, marathon trial, a federal jury in its 11th day of deliberations found Ryan guilty on all 18 counts of steering state business to cronies for bribes, of gutting corruption-fighting efforts to protect political fundraising and of misusing state resources for political gain.
Ryan's co-defendant, lobbyist and longtime friend Lawrence Warner, was also found guilty on all 12 counts against him.
73 year old George Ryan is set to 6 years of prison
Short time passes and Rod BlowgoatsNfish....i mean Blagojevich, is elected the new Governor of Chicago.
November 28, 2008
Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who rode into state office pledging to clean up the corruption of his predecessor, said today that President George W. Bush should commute the federal prison sentence of former Gov. George Ryan to time served as an act of compassion.
Blagojevich, making a Thanksgiving Day appearance at the Chicago Christian Industrial League, contended Ryan had paid "a significant price" for what he termed "mistakes."
Citing the frail health of Ryan's wife, Lura Lynn, and the 74-year-old former governor's health concerns, Blagojevich said a commutation by Bush would be a "fine decision."
December 9 2008
Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff, John Harris, were arrested today by FBI agents for what U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald called a "staggering" level of corruption involving pay-to-play politics in Illinois' top office.
Blagojevich is accused of a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy, including alleged attempts by the governor to try to sell or trade the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama in exchange for financial benefits for the governor and his wife. Blagojevich also is accused of obtaining campaign contributions in exchange for other official actions.
Blagojevich was taken into federal custody at his North Side home this morning--one day shy of his 52nd birthday.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA He barely made it a year in office and the only corruption he MAY have tried to eliminate were those who didn't include him in on the deals LOL Now our last 2 mayors can be butt buddies together in the federal pound your donkey prison.
I just heard on the radio that Blagojevich is the 4th Governor to be arrested for corruption in Illinois in the past 40 years!

RE: More Chicago Mayors put in the slammer
its good the wee are now catching corrupt public official. before when it was Mayor Daileys term wee don't. and Im not pointing to the current mayor but the mayor before him, his father. From what I hear before the elections were done public officials where already celebrating and congratulating Mayor Dailey Sr. for the victory. How they do it is that they have dead people vote on elections for Mr. Dailey, cheating the ballots.
