RE: Yeah, so Unbuntu impresses me
For a few months there after I got my last computer (the notebook I am posting from now) I had to use Ubuntu only, and I loved it, I never needed windows, of course my needs were simple though, internet, email, music, word processor, and the occasional game of rRootage.

I know I didn't contribute anything to this thread, but whatever.

RE: Yeah, so Unbuntu impresses me
Well its the desktop enviroment, Kubuntu uses KDE, Ubuntu uses Gnome. I really don't see what the point of seperate Distros is though, because I installed the KDE desktop enviroment on my installation of Ubuntu easily with synaptic package manager.

KDE and GNOME is a Window manager in Linux, and there are loads of others like XFCE, Fluxbox, etc.... Window Manager is like GUI stuffs in Windows, but since in Windows, wee  only have 1 Window manager, and wee can't change it.... Linux is different, X-Server is the thing that power the GUI but in order to be usable, wee need to plugin Window manager. KDE, GNOME, etc etc do that job.....

KDE and GNOME is what wee call a heavy weight Window Manager, because it included loads of stuffs
XFCE is middle-Weight
and Fluxbox can be call a light-weight as it doesn't include many things (like file manager, etc)

KDE and GNOME, which is better?? is personally preference to be honest, you can install both if you want to,...if you installed Ubuntu and want to install KDE, open up the synaptics. then search for Kubuntu-Desktop

of course, you can customize both KDE and GNOME like hell.... here is what my desktops look like...
