What ever happened to Anime-Planet?
Topic. They say they would be up by the second week of August. Its now the fourth week. Any insight? And aren't there any sites like Anime-Planet to begin with? I'm switching if they're not up by September :P

RE: What ever happened to Anime-Planet?
its a free website... nothing is on time on a free website. There are many similar sites.. I think animedb is somewhat similar... not sure though.

Sothis wasn't taking an more 'work harder' comments and closed that thread.
Wee just need to be patient I suppose. The coding has been going non-stop - I can't wait - but I can.. So I will... impatiently......

RE: What ever happened to Anime-Planet?
I don't think wee have a choice but to wait...
it is a bit of a disappointment though because I go there to look up almost everything and mark everything I want to see. I can't really complain though because even after all that, what have I done for them?

RE: What ever happened to Anime-Planet?
AniDB is the original. Anime-planet + MyAnimeList are just knock-offs.
AniDB is the homesite to most/all fansub groups when they drop a project, announce a stall, etc. All the status updates are posted there.
Beside, when it come to making your list, AniDB can't be rivaled. You can add to your watch list, your wishlist, etc on line.
But even better they have the AOM. You can practically create and edit your entire list from a program on your PC without opening a browser. You can hash your own files that you downloaded and have it set so they automatically get added to your list.
Adding files is easy as hell. Have it set to monitor a folder, or just drag + drop to add it to your list.
They list you make there can be exported and added to all other list-style sites like MyAnimeList if you choose to, seeing as AniDB is the base for all those other sites.

RE: What ever happened to Anime-Planet?
Is Anime-Planet just a "what I've watched" list + recommendations + info?
I recall a friend giving me AOM a few years back. Had a lot of eMule related stuff in there too - dunno if people still use that part...

RE: What ever happened to Anime-Planet?
...I still like anime planet better.
One thing my laptop doesn't need is more poo poo.
I like to download as little as possible so my computer stays relatively fast.
I also like looking at the hard drive and seeing at least half of it free.
Makes me feel like there is always room to expand.
This reminds me I must uninstall some junk.
Be right back

RE: What ever happened to Anime-Planet?
I actually wrote up a script a long long time ago which pulled all the pages from AnimeNewsNetwork and parsed them all. So now I have a nice collection of TXT files around 5MB with all the info.
Yeah, I use Notepad for most of these things.
