Not always. The 'artist' could say, "Oh I liked this anime I want to make a sig of this character!" and he/she then goes off and gets a render/stock and usually quickly does his/her usual effects and whatever to it. It gets the same looks as his/her others with the exception that it's a different subject..

Unnecessary Assumptions. I can tell you from experience, Anime signature makers with skills have a hell of a lot more drive than most.

Sorry I just have to disagree.

Freestyle just gives more variety of what to vote for. Thus making it harder to vote. Don't confuse it with creativity.

Oh I'm not confusing it with creativity. One Easy example would be 'Hulk' for a theme, a user is most likely to go for a 'Powerful' or 'Branded Sig' style, and why the hell not? It seems most reasonable - making Themed SOTWs, logically, have less possibilities.

It must be a difference of personal belief in the users in this forum.

I believe they can be very creative, they just need to prevent themselves from thinking they are obliged to create things just because there is either a competition happening or simply because that person is in a team.

Hmm interesting argument.
This happens, but I believe wee are both correct. What you are saying does happen but with themed SOTW it helps you get creative in the sense that it's a challenge to stick to the theme and 'POP-OUT' to get more interest in your sig at the same time.
It all depends on the mind of the artist.
