RE: my PC died.....
this poo poo happens to the computers at my school when a network cable is removed......... maybe communication with the other comp fudgeed it up but graphics card problems would make sense as the signal to the screen gets handled through the graphics card......

RE: my PC died.....
if it makes no beeping sounds at all during boot its the cpu that's knacked (or is loose). the beeps are error codes so if it beeps in any way you can find out what's wrong, unless its the processor as it controls the beeps. i have yet to repair a pc that didnt beep and wasn't the processor at fault. im sure that there will be at least one but i think its unlikely to beanything else provided the pc does not beep. i am curious to know what the actual result is so please let us know when/if you find out. and good luck also.

RE: my PC died.....
Thanks for all the advice! Well I still hope it's my Radeon x1600xt, simply because the last days I had overheating issues with it anyway. One thing I know is that the Graphics Card BIOS is present before the actual MoBo BIOS, so maybe the Graphics BIOS just hangs and prevents my PC to reach the actual BIOS.... well I will know more tomorrow, I'm prepared to buy a new CPU and MoBo money wise....

RE: my PC died.....
Mobo wouldn't even beep anything without a Graphics Card, also no reaction on NUM Lock, seems like the Mobo is dead, eh? I will take the Graphics with me to the shop and let it be tested there, if it works I guess it's the confirmation right?

I hope I can get all needed parts today... I can't stand a day of Summerbreak without a PC, all my friends are busy.....

RE: my PC died.....
Sorry for triple post....... well the Graphics card was still ok, I end up buying a new CPU, Mobo and PSU:

CPU: AMD Phenom x4 2.5 Ghz Black Edition
Mobo: GIGABYTE AM2+
PSU: BeQuiet 500w Dual Rail Power

XP fails to install, Linux works like a charm without new installing^^
currently I'm redownloading Vista

RE: my PC died.....
i still stand by my original assesment, with a little proviso. its true the graphics card bios does go before the pc bios and that the beeps come after the graphics card bios - but only if all is well. it will still beep an error code if the graphics card is faulty or not present.
its a shame you had to buy all that new kit and it still doesn't like xp. i think you may find the reason xp is failing is one of 2 things - theres a setting in the bios that xp doesn't like - i can't remember which it is but i had a few times where this would prevent installing and running xp. the other thing is that if its a sata motherboard you may need to have the sata drivers on a floppy (theres a screen during install where you press f6 to install essential drivers) perhaps this is what's wrong. i still strongly recommend xp over vista because of the performance gains.

RE: my PC died.....
While your here, get a decent cooler and up that Phenom x4 to 2.8Ghz, 3 if it can handle it. Really push it since you have that chance

RE: my PC died.....
I might try to OC the Phenom with a new cooler, thanks for the suggestion roberth^^

And for XP, I found out what happened with the installation and such, the MBR was corrupted like hell, after I reinstall Vista on the XP drive I got my Vista bootloader back and now I have 2 Vista installations.....

Oh well the miracle is that my old Vista still boots and now works fine again! It redetected all the hardware and boom working again^^ I is happy^^ Thanks again for the support guys Gongxi

EDIT: OH MY FUDGING GOD! This Phenom CPU is AWESOME it converts a Anime Episode to PSP MP4 in freaking 7 minutes!!!! :o

RE: my PC died.....
Glad your happy with it

It would be a crime to ght a black edition and not OC it though ,especially with the potential that thing has, and the extremely reasonable price of coolers that will fit on the AM2/+ socket

RE: my PC died.....
Hmm, didn't know Phenoms were that good.  Read some reviews and apparently the Intel QX9300 (or something; low end Q9... series) beats the AMD Phenom 9600, and they're around the same price.
