not necessarily. u can just download the installer, and manually get all the tools needed, and shove them into the respective folders, and then u don't need to install via download. Although it would be far easier just to install the thing through download, + it's not that much, (about 15mb i think?)

RE: Your computer and desk rig.
i recently upgraded my mobo/graphics card with much less hassle than i thought
but then again ive taken apart and rebuilt my pc about 5 times to clean it out
Double post
you could either go for a nice 478 mobo and stick with it for a while, maybe get a big pci-e graphics card, then when you upgrade ur processor again to a newer socket u will need a new mobo but you won't need a new graphics

RE: Your computer and desk rig.
The prob is, i didnt change my mobo, cause my uncle game me his video card... (AGP)
So, if i get new mobo i got lotsa things needa change.. like SD ram to DDR ram... and AGP graphics card to PCI-E and i can keep the HDD on IDE i guess..... just lotsa work need to get done.

RE: Your computer and desk rig.
if you were to upgrade the motherboard
assuming ur processor is a 478 socket
you need:

- new graphics
- new ram
- reinstall windows

however it sure would speed things up, and if you find the money to buy a decent graphics card (like a 7900 or a 8600) you won't have to upgrade it again when you get a Core 2 Duo or something

i had to upgrade my motherboard cause it was broken, but i already had DDR ram but yeah i needed a new graphics
which i don't have yet by the way im using a temporary one (Radeon X300SE, yeah, that's bad)
