RE: Stream or dl
I am a DLer.  Through and through.  It is usually because I want to see them all at once and no buffering or anything, or because I want to watch them on my 360 or PS3.  I know it is streaming from my PC to the ps3/360 then, but that wasn't what you were referring to :P

RE: Stream or dl
I download everything and eventually back things up to DVDs.

I usually stick to XviD Downloads so they'll work in MPEG4 Compatible DVD Players, Compatibility +1

I admittedly love, though, HD Anime, which is full of WIN. I hope they release older anime in HD..

I have:

All Neon Genesis Evangelion 2
All Naruto & Shippuden so far....(even though I don't watch it my bro does) 4
All Bleach so far ^same^ 3
All Black Lagoon 2
All Full Metal Alchemist 1
All Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann 2
All Lucky Star 2
All Haruhi 2
All Blood+ 1
All Cowboy Bebop 2
All Eureka Seven 1
And sooooo many more...........
That's well over 650 Episodes

That's a whole lot of chocolate!!!! How much space does that take up :\

*Cough* Around 400Gb *Cough*

Ahh!!!!! I only haves 80 gigs for all my spoon :\\\\\

I have about 50DVDs (200+GB) + another 40GB on portable HDD. That's about 40+ anime series. Most of which I haven't actually seen.

Not much actually, compared to some other people I know.

I didn't download all that though. A large percentage (2/3?) of it I copied off other people.

Copy off others = THE best method of getting stuff.

Yep, I get the XviD releases, if they don't have HD. If they have HD, I get the HD. (which is almost always h.264).

I have a DVD player which supports Mpeg4 ASP (DivX, Xvid) decoding too, thus I prefer to download Xvid stuff if there is no HD.

The question is highly dependent on how good your internet is.

- If you have crazy internet, you would most likely prefer download. If it takes you like 5-10 minutes to download an episode, there would be little reason to stream.

- If you have internet only just good enough for streaming (like 512kbit/s), then you may prefer stream, for those who don't care about quality much, and are really desperate to see the stuff as fast as possible. I would still download.

- If you have absolutely poo poo internet (like 56k...), downloading would take an eternity. Streaming would lag like no tomorrow. Then you'd probably to stream, and leave it in the background until it's finished, then watch. (Or download low quality encodes, if they are available.)

h.264 is better, if you're talking about that.

I only get Xvid cause it works on my DVD player, thus I can watch it on my large screen TV.

hai ~desuu

I only download HD Releases if the title is favorably better with the quality increase. Not that they all would.... but its like saying Toei Animation should have HD Releases like CoMiX Wave Animation - its just crazy talk! ^____^

They are both different types of video encoding.

Assassinator Wrote:Stream is FTL. Look at the quality you get from most streams, and tiny frame size.

I'd rather download the file twice, than look at low quality stream.

I also tend to go for the HD releases if they are available.

If you have good enough internet to stream, it likely isn't going to take "horrendously long" to download.

....

Feel like adding a poll to this?

it depends, like you said stream quality may "suck donkey" which is why it streams so fast

i guess if you're a person who doesn't mind a bit of bad quality here and there you would stream

but if you were going to download an episode, they're usually 170+ MB's big

for me, it takes an hour to download each; which is too long when i want to get to the next episode!!!

I wait patiently.

It takes approximately 45 Minutes for 1 Episode to download.

I watch around 3 to 6 Episodes a day. If I watch Midday, theres a good chance it would be over 10 Episodes.

Torrenting is an efficient way of achieving this with priority settings.

There's another way I look at it.

I watch my Anime on my PSP in the night, in the dark, alone in my room.

All my focus is drawn to that, with not an artifact in sight because of quality conversion, it is a 110% Pure Experience.

During the Daytime I usually think about what I watched the night before... ultimate Anime Digestion.

Patience is awarded.
