I am now using VBAlink to trade Pokémon. But the error occurs and it says like this below when the character entered the door.

Communication error.....
Please check all connections,
then turn the power OFF and ON.

Sometimes, I passed that stage (1 out of 10 times) and that error occurs when exchanging pokémons.
It don't even work in Leaf-Green version. (Not in FR,R,S,E versions)
The same error occurs.
How can I fix that? Can somebody tell me how?
PS: I've changed to 128KB flash in emulator setting, I am using VBAlink 1.8.0 and my computer is 2.66 GHz with 512 MB.

If only you could do this with Pokemon Blu, Red, Yellow...

Hello everybody. I just found this thread and I have to say that it IS possible to trade pokemon even if you are playing Blue, Red or Yellow. At this point, I have to admit that up to now I only tried trading Red«>Red (to get alakazam, golem etc.), but I am pretty sure that it will work Blue«>Red etc., too. But no promise!

First of all, make sure your char already carries the pokemon you want to trade (as I tried to withdraw pokemon while running two instances of VBALink, my game crashed or the link was not established). Then save your game and make a backup copy (safety first ^^).

For the next steps, you'll need VBALink 1.72. I tried it with 1.8 but it didn't work at all.

Start two instances of VBALink and put on the usual configurations (uncheck "pause when inactive window and so on). Talking about controls, I use the same joypad on both instances.

Load the game-ROM and your savegame. Talk to a cable-club-lady to establish a link. Then got to the trade center and trade your pokemon. When finished, close the screen showing a list of your pokemon so you can see your char sitting in the trade centre.

Open the in-game start-menue and choose "reset". After the game finished loading, choose "continue".

Now you should be standing in the pokemon center next to the cable-club-lady and you should have the pokemon you just traded.

Thanks! i was searching for this a very long time!
i do have a problem, i want to trade from red/blue to Gold but when the emulater loads red in (when you are in a pokemon center or when you go in) the emulator blocks! and with my normal emulator it doesn't!
can somebody help me out?

can someone help me with this?

i did the same exact thing as the steps shows, trying to trade pokemons from the yellow to the red version. But when i go talk with the cable-lady is says that this area is reserved for 2 friends to be linked together. So it means im not linked with the other game, what did i do wrong and what is there to do?

visualboy advance doesn't load .sav files.... It loads .sgm files. what will i do?

I can trade with FR/LG/RUBY/SAPPHIRE/EMERALD. NO Problems There.
I Can't Seem to Link/Trade With Red/Blue/Yellow/Silver/Gold/Crystal Though. Is Something wrong? Or Do I have to Do an extra Step Or something? All i get is the message from the lady saying something like "this is reserved for 2 players that are linked" Did I go Somewhere incorrectly?

i read somewhere that you can change the filename from pokemonred.sav to pokemonblue.sav (something like that) and the pokemon will transfer to the other version you named in the save file.
