Actually, as you can see by the build date, this is rather old, but there really hasn't been too much news about this (one of my most used homebrew).
If you don't know what it is, all it is, is just a custom homebrew video player. If you find the XMB's video player suffice, then, by all means, continue using it.
Some advantages over the XMB player include:
Playback at 66MHz
Luminance and volume boosting
Multiple audio streams
Support for soft subtitles
Saves the position of the video clip after you exit
Anyways, for anyone interested, I've attached my copy of the homebrew, with only the English skin included, and smaller versions of the included fonts, to reduce the size it takes up on the memstick.

Pimpstreamer was the wifi one....
PMPlayer was the way to get full resolution before stupid sony implemented it in the xmb.
I always support the one who arrives with the features first... which in every case is the homebrew.
PMPlayer and PSPRadio are 2 prime examples.
