There will be a crack - that's almost guaranteed - especially for something large as Vista - there'll be a race between people to see who cracks it first, IMO (If I recall correctly XP was cracked about 6 hours after it's initial release).

Not necessarily, but 2 drives can help.  You need two partitions - you can have multiple partitions on one drive.
But if you have two HDDs (not in a RAID array) then it will work as well, as you have one partition per HDD.

Well they have a bug in the internet browser i believe that was hacked.

I'm looking forward to Dx 10, I guess that's is what's piloting vista atm, however i was reading a magazine where they did some independent tests with vista and showed an overall 15% loss in performance from the 3dMark06 scores when compared to Xp.

So I'm probably not gonna upgrade till all the drivers come out.

Vista is better with multi-core CPUs and hopefully, 64 bit...

They were run on:

Memory: 3gb DDR2-667 Ram
GPU: Ati Radeon x1950 XTX
HD: 10,000-rpm Western Digital raptor WD740GD
Audio: X-Fi Fata1ty (that the CS guy you were talking about zing?)
CD/DvD: Sony DVD-ROM DDU1615
