Ars Technica Reviews PSPgo!
[Image: psp_go-480x362.jpg]

The almighty Ars Technica have got their hands on the console and gave it a review.

Its 3-pages, but a great review if you're planning on getting one of these.

If you want to skip to the verdict, look in the spoiler.

Spoiler for Ars Verdict:
The Good

    * The screen is beautiful in action
    * Clicky, responsive buttons
    * Hardware is aesthetically pleasing
    * The pause function is great
    * Bluetooth headset, to use with your bluetooth headset, PS3 controllers, or to tether to your cell phone
    * Sound is strong using the built-in speakers

The Bad

    * The system can't download games while you're doing other things
    * Way too expensive
    * Absolutely no way to play any of your existing games
    * Controls are cramped
    * Smaller screen
    * Games tend to be more expensive than retail, while getting less
    * No competition in pricing for games
    * No way to sell games you buy
    * None of your cables or accessories will work, barring headphones
    * Screen is wasted while closed, only shows clock, calendar

The Ugly

    * Waiting hours to download a patch, charge your batteries, buy a game, download your game, and then install your game, and then finally... guess what? playing your game!
    * Your system can already do what this system claims to do, and better. Minus the bluetooth and the 16GB of internal storage, this is a step back in every way
    * If Sony continues this trend expect a $500 PS3 that doesn't play Blu-ray discs

Senseito7 Wrote:* Way too expensive
I don't even know it's price.

Senseito7 Wrote:    * Absolutely no way to play any of your existing games
Fail

Senseito7 Wrote:* Controls are cramped
I knew it would it uncomfortable to hold

Senseito7 Wrote:* Games tend to be more expensive than retail, while getting less
Whut.

Well I quoted all the bad things.
And I still have no plans on getting a Go, maybe if it was hackable and I was rich enough, then maybe.

RE: Ars Technica Reviews PSPgo!
sorry double post but i had to pick that review apart...

The Good

    * The screen is beautiful in action - true
    * Clicky, responsive buttons - new buttons are small, but nice feel
    * Hardware is aesthetically pleasing - i agree
    * The pause function is great - i also agree
    * Bluetooth headset, to use with your bluetooth headset, PS3 controllers, or to tether to your cell phone - don't care about anything but the ps3 controller, which is the only way i play mine
    * Sound is strong using the built-in speakers - true

The Bad

    * The system can't download games while you're doing other things - true but i get them on my PS3 where the DL speed is super fast
    * Way too expensive - true, should have been bundled with some acces. or games for the price
    * Absolutely no way to play any of your existing games - true, but who has a stack of UMDs?? i had a psp since launch and still only have 3 only i only got them for hacks like lumines and GTA liberty city
    * Controls are cramped - true, that's why i use a ps3 controller, not economical i guess
    * Smaller screen - true, but i don't notice unless i hold it up to a FAT (its NOT phat!!!)
    * Games tend to be more expensive than retail, while getting less -true, no case, no box, no booklet, just a digital booklet
    * No competition in pricing for games - true, only can't get them from sony ie. no other store for it
    * No way to sell games you buy - true, but you can trade shares, not a viable alternative, but it 10 years or so most systems will be DL only so what then?
    * None of your cables or accessories will work, barring headphones - true and that pisses me off
    * Screen is wasted while closed, only shows clock, calendar - untrue, i play games with mine closed all the time, with a ps3 controller, also can watch vids and music vizuals

The Ugly

    * Waiting hours to download a patch, charge your batteries, buy a game, download your game, and then install your game, and then finally... guess what? playing your game! -  true, out of the box it takes a little time to first start playing, don't DL on the psp go if possible, use you PC or ps3 cause the wifi card is slow
    * Your system can already do what this system claims to do, and better. Minus the bluetooth and the 16GB of internal storage, this is a step back in every way - how? in what ways? has more system memory, as in what stores the OS, just the ability to use a ps3 contoller alone is the best, loss of umds is NO loss cause 75% (my own guess) pirates most games anyhow so they have no right to complain about no UMD slot, but im sure ill get some flame for that
* If Sony continues this trend expect a $500 PS3 that doesn't play Blu-ray discs
im not even wasting my time with that one
