i have a late 2006 blacbook
and compared to most laptops you see these days its still fast compared to larger models

2ghz core 2 duo
4gb ram(3 useable on this model due to memory bug)667mhz
320gb hd
internal graphics

wouldnt mind the aluminium mac if i get a job

2.4ghz core 2 duo
2gb ddr3 1066mhz ram(default) can take 6gb and work fine 8gb gives problems
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory
also the touch-pad is now multitouch and anyway pushing down on it is a click

by the way mac run fast on windows quite fast may i say

i suggest a mac, its much more expensive but you can run a virtual machine full speed or dual boot up to 3 other os's, do what i do if you do get a macbook, run xp sp3 on a virtual machine its win you can play the best game ever [oregon trail of course]
